If it was 2 lanes merging into 1 then insurances will probably rule 50-50 liability, even if he was just changing lanes, in slow moving traffic and without any independant witnesses then again it will probably be 50-50.

Apart from "the principle of it", it probably isn't worth the bother for either of you to go claiming from the insurance, especially with the possible loss of no claims bonus and the excess.

I would suggest to call or visit the the local police station today, tell them what happened, and ask them what to do about it - this way you have everything out in the open and no surprises to fear - perhaps do it at lunch time.

If you just wait and see what happens, you run the risk of not reporting an accident to the police etc
