When they eventually got a ram and broke in, she gave them loads of abuse.

Yeah and in the "black and white no excuses" view of the world, she could have shot them.

Let it lie, mate. If you think your chavtastic one-off example TV programme makes a difference, you are wrong.

Breaking into someone's home is wrong. Simple. Don't try and over-complicate it and please don't try to have a pop at people that take action against the scum that do it.

The police intend to sort the neighbours out at a later date (also when it's dark)

Well you could of course ask the burglar nicely if he would be awfully kind and leave your house empty and the occupance safe - on the other hand you could do it with a 2x4 in your hand.

I think I will go for the latter!

Leaving your front door open and sitting behind a steel wall isnt exactly dealing with burglars though is it?

Defending your property and family against burglars is not in question. You have the right to do so even to the extent of killing the scrote.

Also this new law is a murderers charter. Get your enemy round for drinkies beat em to death then report them for breaking in. How about shoot the wife with a shotgun and tell the police she was supposed to be in Scotland this week.

I also suspect that if you shoot a burglar the police will want to know why your gun cupboard is easier to access than your phone, you are not allowed to keep them under the bed you know (guns not phones).
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

In your not very humble opinion

I never said breaking into people's houses was anything other than wrong.

It's the automatic administration of the death penalty that I think is questionable in a civilised society. The real villains (apart from the villians) are the cops, courts and politicians, but I will certainly "have a pop" at people who think it should be automatically legal to murder anyone you find in your house first and ask questions later. I picked one example - but there are others.

Also, as I asked on that thread we had on daft Prime Ministerial policies - would this only apply indoors - what about farms or houses with large gardens and outbuildings? Is it ok for me to take pot shots at anyone I find in my garden?
