The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.” -
The British Isles (Irish: variously Na hOileáin Bhriotanacha, Oileáin Iarthair Eorpa, Éire agus an Bhreatain Mhór;[2] Manx: Ellanyn Goaldagh; Scottish Gaelic: Eileanan Breatannach; Welsh: Ynysoedd Prydain) are a group of islands off the northwest coast of continental Europe which comprise Great Britain, Ireland and a number of smaller islands.[3] The term British Isles is controversial in relation to Ireland,[4] where many people may find the term offensive or objectionable; the Irish government also discourages its usageHow fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't thinkComment

He is representing Britain and all true Brits of whatever nationality should get behind him. Those that don't are the ones with the racial prejudices worth worrying about.
The fact he said it in the first place speaks volumes, joke or not.
He is not representing Britain, he is representing Scotland. Every Scot you see asks the same question "Why is he only British when he is winning".
You Scots seem to want it all, Scots when it suits, British when it suits.
It used to be that we were all British and proud of it then somewhere in the last 30 years the Scots started being Scots again.
Just look at sporting events. Look how many English sports stars fly a Union Jack when winning. Then look how many saltyres and rampant lions appear when it's a Scot.
Stop trying to defend him, say he shouldn't have said it and that it was wrong, then you may have a little credence in your argument.I am not qualified to give the above advice!

That is just a bigoted response. What about the huge numbers of sports starts that fly the St George's Cross? Or does that not fit well with your arguement?"If you can read this, thank a teacher....and since it's in English, thank a soldier"Comment

James Toseland might be a place for you to start. He has a St Georges cross on his crash helmet.I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Just so I understand this:
1. It is OK for a Scot not to support England, but the English must support a Scot because he is British?
2. It is not OK for an Englishman to wear his own flag but it is OK for a Scot to do so.
3. It is OK for Scot to accuse an Englishman of racialism even though he is defending a racialist statement from a Scot.
It wasn't that long ago that the Scots were saying they would not be supporting England in the last football and rugby world cups yet the same Scots are now telling the English thye should be getting behind Murray, one of the self same Scots who stated they would support anybody but England (in fact whoever England were playing).I am not qualified to give the above advice!
