    That is exactly how it works. MSB used to hang your P45 over your head from the ceiling on a piece of cotton. The manager would wander around the office with a pair of scissors and "snip". Off to the dole office with you.

        How do you prevent staff from walking of to a competitor/setting themselves up on their own, having just made a copy of your database?

        ( Apart from the technical skills most agents lack, that is).

              I was accused of pinching the database off my previous company until one of my former colleagues pointed that I would not know how to

              Otherwise, agencies are pretty good at identifying the people that they do not wish to lose and tying them in. If someone leaves and starts dealing with their old customers you will find that their previous agency may stamp on them.
