It has been argued in the past (I can’t be bothered to look up a citation) that increased fuel costs can alleviate the need to increase interest rates as it has the same effect (i.e. cooling demand) in the fight against inflation. Depends on how you measure inflation, of course; it’s one of those core/non-core inflation things.How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
