Well no actually, 'cos I couldn't give a monkey's **** what those losers think.

Was using one of the self checkout tills in ASDA. Card was declined (card wasn't blocked and had funds).

So going as this was an ASDA config problem. Yet the till decided to scream "CARD DECLINED".

... The check-in person swiped my card ... excused herself as she headed into the back office ... returned to ask me my mother's maiden name ... and carried on with the normal check-in procedure.

So she then has your name, address, sort code, account number, the 3 digits off the back of the card ... and ... the answer to a security question.

This was about three years ago - no problem so far

Had the same problem with Abbey and turned out to be an employee. Seems strange that nobody was prosecuted although I got my money back in the end.

Moved banks since.
