Why are doctors so rubbish?

GPs are generalists so they have to look things up or refer you to a specialist.

If you get a good one and your case is unusual enough in their experience they will look things up and call you to come back to the surgery or tell you to go to hospital if it's serious

Unfortunately like in every job you get loads who can't be bothered to do their job properly.

Most GPs are now little more than pill pushers.

If your case is unusual you will be shunted around before anyone takes the risk of a proper scan that will diagnose what is happening.

GPs are great at telling OAPs they need a flu jab and pregnant women that they shouldn't smoke. Beyond that they are salesmen for the pharma companies.

Exactly. At our current surgery we have some very good doctors. The one bad one recently retired.

I have 2 doctors in the family - 1 a retired lecturer(pharmacuticals) and 1 a consultant surgeon. The consultant surgeon wants to become a GP to help more people...

Last time I went to the doctors (being a man that was probably 7 years ago) they had some computer software to help them diagnose the problem/treatment, the doctor didn't seem to have a clue. I guess it means we are not that far from an automated service.


As long as Wikipedia isn't used to diagnose
