    Confession time....

I have a confession to make.

I got dragged to see Sex and the City (having never seen the tv show) last night and I kind of enjoyed it.

I feel so much better for admitting that. Rest assured it will be a manly film fest this week.

    Hamburger Hill,
    Platoon,
    Aliens,
    Meet Me in St. Louis

    Er scratch the last one.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I know. But I can't always rely on the easy option of alcohol. These things were sent to try us.

There was a suprising number of men in the cinema. All doing community service by the looks of it.

Thank the sweet baby jesus that Mrs BGG doesn't do "pink and fluffy".

I've never had to be subjected to any of that mushy girlie crap, and she doesn't watch anything like that on telly either.

The other week she had to go a hen do.

I drove her to the bride's house, and as we approached the main building up a tree lined drive, Mrs BGG commented : "They've tied pink ribbons around the trees...I think I'm going to be sick".

So I drop her off at 2pm and head over to a friends nearby to catch up on things, watch some magic DVD's, etc.

At 6pm I get a hushed call from the Mrs.

Her : "Hi it's me. Get me out of here".

                Me : "You ok?"

Her : "I need to leave before I kill somebody. Anybody."

Me : "Oh dear....on my way."

So I pick her up, and as we leave the house, she fills me in with the horror of it all.

The entourage sit down and watch, one after the other :

                "Grease"
                "Dirty Dancing"
                "Pretty Woman"

...whilst scoffing themselves with a Pick & Mix display that would put the average cinema to shame.

Even more scarier, was the fact that of the 20 or so girls there, they all knew the words to the above films and repeated them en masse as the films played.

The other nightmare was the fact that Mrs BGG was the only lass there who was NOT part of any of the 3-4 churches that these girls belonged to. So she was given the cold shoulder treatment by a few of them (not all, but definitely a few).

She definitely agreed that the stag party the chaps went to would have been more fun (Paintball).
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There is no way I would waste either my time or money watching that twaddle. IMHO it's right up there with "Brokeback Mountain", on the list of films I'd rather spend an hour and a half listening to 'The Proclaimers', than watching.

. . . and as regards Sarah Jessica Parker, Peter Griffin was right; she has a face like a foot!

If Mrs BGG has so little in common with this vision of suburban horror - why was she invited in the first place?
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!
