Scientists sign petition denying man-made global warming
None of the things I quoted him saying were anything to do with climatology.
Global warming has nothing to do with climatology? Perhaps my definitions are wrong. Sorry perhaps I should have said Nigel Lawson that worldwide authority on global warming.
Next week in the Mail, Mavis from Corronation Street on Quantum Physics
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
I meant if it were true and we changed our behaviour, what is the worst that can happen, i.e. there is little penalty for changing behaviour (assuming we are beyond a point of no return) and potential destructive consequences if we carry on regardless. It's like playing russian roulette with either a water pistol or taking a chance on a real gun loaded with live bullets.

I think a lot of people are arguing at cross purposes here, I don't know what is causing GW or if it is happening at all, but I do know charging me £300+ to tax my car isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.
Personally I'm unhappy about the government hijacking what could/could not be a very serious issue and using it as a means to generate revenue, if people want to use trains and buses then why not give us a transport system that works? Or would that damage the 'cash cow' income stream they have tapped into??
Greenpeace executive director John Sauven said the plan to bring in higher taxes on cars which people have already bought "gives green taxes a bad name". full article
I assume you agree with this guy?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Yes I agree. But some people seem to be too stupid to separate idiotic policies from New Labour with the probable reality of man-made climate change.
As the bloke says, we need to insulate ourselves from economic shocks caused by oil prices by finding alternative technologies, and even if global warming turns out to be a red herring, a by-product of this would be a more pleasant environment. It's generally a win-win situation for all except oil companies and the Arab countries.
Oh and plus we souldn't have to have send young men to die in silly wars in the Middle East. We could just leave that region to go back to it's natural state - something akin to sub-saharan Africa.
