If anyone read Nigel Lawson's Daily Mail article recently, his points basically were:

    1. Global warming isn't actually happening (i.e. no temperature rises in the last decade).

    2. Even if 1. isn't true, then there's no real evidence to suggest it's going to be that bad anyway (e.g. recent government figures show an increase in temperature would mean an increase in heat related deaths, but a greater decrease in cold related deaths - a net gain).

    3. Even if 1 and 2 aren't true, then to try to avoid it would do far more damage than accepting it, especially to the developing world where denying them the benefits of affordable energy and transportation will harm economic growth, keeping them in poverty and having far worse consequences for health and general well-being than a small increase in temperature ever could.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Do you really think that is how science works? You may believe that global warming isn't exacerbated by man made pollution, but to imply scientific research is all fabricated is ridiculous. Any work is peer reviewed and scrutinised to the nth degree. It seems to me you, not them, are the one jumping to pre-decided conclusions and then disregarding evidence which does not support your view.

On your other point, there is a massive amount being poored into propaganda by those who wish to carry on polluting.

In true scientific fashion I keep an open mind, but evidence so far strongly points toward a man made effect. What if it were true? What's the worst that can happen? We are forced to use alternative technology?

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

All you can hear on this thread is silly twunts with no scientific training trying to justify their ignorance and prejudice.

Your convictions stem from an in depth analysis of the evidence I presume?
Some people are convinced they have been abducted by aliens. Your convictions have about the same validity.

Its not often I agree with SasOcrates, and this is another one of those occasions.
You are not allowed to be unconvinced about something untill you have performed an in depth study and had it peer reviewed. - balls

Its being convinced about something that requires the hard thinking

None of the things I quoted him saying were anything to do with climatology.

Many on here are mad because the government is 100% convinced or are trying to convince us Global warming is man made, when the scientific community is more sure than they were but not conclusively so.

Yes, they have sometimes used it as a convienient excuse to raise taxes, rather than look at more constructive ways to change behaviour i.e. research into new cleaner technologies phasing out of carbon intensive industry.

I don't like the taxes, but there are other options, worth pursuing, lets face it a cleaner environment is better (e.g. fewer cancers, less asthma) whether it prevented global warming or not.
