Because Gordon wants even more of your money.

It would cost £78 to fill the Passat from bone dry empty now...

Why not get a 7 series then?

I cannot even fill my 10 year old 4x4 up as the garages have set a £99 limit on the pumps
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Quite a few garages got caught when price went over 99.9p per litre.

So, even someone who was trying to point out the rather gloomy future seems to have underestimated how quickly things would go bad.
A recent article in (I think) the Economist reckoned it might reach $200 a barrel by the end of the year, with increasing 3rd world demand, and supply disruption in places like Nigeria and Venezuela

While driving back from Forest Mere health Farm the other day I did a consistent 60mph - I was on the mobile(hands free!).

I noticed the number of miles available from the tank went over 700 with 60 driven - it usually never gets above 600 and is often 500.

I must try to drive at 60 instead of 80....

Filled up yesterday with still a quarter tank and it came to €72 and will probably fill up again this week. Diesel here is cheaper than petrol (around €1.45) but they made a small change a little while ago where normal petrol is now the same price as that super petrol, which is nice as the new car uses the super petrol
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

                    £50 to fill both tanks!!!

                    It'd be over £100 now.

                    Ah well, tough tulip!

I'll just have to "up the rate to compensate!!!"...
