I picked up a copy of "The End Of Oil" recently. Version I have was published in 2005 and the author talks about oil prices "in the next decade rising to 60, 70... even 100 dollars a barrel". Three years later and it's currently 127 dollars a barrel.

So, even someone who was trying to point out the rather gloomy future seems to have underestimated how quickly things would go bad.

Use public transport.

I need to visit Portsmouth tomorrow (interview). It is an 800 mile round trip so will use 60 - 80 quid of diesel depending on leadfootedness. The cheapest train I can get is 280 quid .
I cant afford to use public transport.
