As much as I'd like to say I'm not a badge snob..... I can't

Bit of a cheek when I run a Fiat 500

and I found the cockpit much more cramped than the boxsters although the S2000 can be had for not much money I have noticed

Get yourself an Audi R8, goes like stink, reliable. Fast. Very low depreciation. In fact, buy the right one and it'll appreciate for the first 6 months!

I know they never break and have a great customer record but I just could not do it. I'm a badge snob I'm afraid I have thought about a new MX-5 but I've yet to drive one of the new ones. Hows yours going by the way?
My MX5 – still waiting for the replacement radiator fan! Once I get that, will get alignment, and zoom zoom time.

One thing to think about – the ride height in the UK MX5 is not legal, so Mazda have had to adjust the height at the expense of handling. You will need to get an illegal alignment to make it handle as it should be driven.

Not safe in winter – especially when we get snow and ice, or any day that the weather is below say 5 degrees, the grips just ain’t there.

The Mark 3 may be somewhat improved mind you……

Personally, I am happy with my Focus

Don’t knock it – Clarkson has one.

            THERE'S ALWAYS ONE......

however I do salute you sir for having said car especially when you got it delivered to your current place of work.

No I'm afraid the days of paying tons of cash on a car are over. The money I've lost on the boxster has brought this home with a

to be honest thats the other reason £15K just over three years. For anyone reading who's thinking of buying a Porsche of any type
DO NOT BUY FROM A MAIN DEALER!!! their markup is a disgrace

there are plenty of specialist dealers out there.

What is your budget and what are you looking for?

If you are after a Golf, then I would sit tight as the shape is due to change soon so dealers should be clearing the current shape at a discount at some point.

If you can't wait, you should be able to pick up a used R32 with a years warranty for about £20k.

As a relevant note (for a change) the RR that I'm in the process of buying was over £60k just under 2 years ago. It has 21k miles on the clock and I'm paying just under £30k for it from a main dealer.

                Now THAT is depreciation!

On the flip side of that coin for the price of a new Gti I could have a very nice used SL Merc (not the current shape the one before) this car will probably not do more than 5-6K a year.

No chav wagons aloud..... although I do like the wee corsa VXR but I just can't do it

The one thing that worries me about the SL is what the road tax will cost. Anyone confirm it will be the top end of the scale come next April?
I would get the Merc SL (350 or 500). Class, luxury, that shape and that folding roof. £20Kish should get you one 5 years old.
