Yes, they push the red cells and plasma back into you once they've got the platelets.

Didn't go though as they wanted me to go over to St George's in Tooting and it's a bit inconvenient.

90 minutes is a long time!

I have given blood as st georges : the twins were born there. I used to live about half a mile away : in fact from the hospital maternity wing I could see my house!

I did once and it was very unpleasant. I was supposed to only be gone for half an hour but fainted and had to wait the afternoon before I recovered.

All for half a pint.

The nurse said not to bother in future as it really wasn't worth the effort...
