Good grief, the security services must be full of buttoned-up conformists who've never put a foot wrong in their entire lives. They'd have as much chance of thinking outside the box as a dormouse escaping a locked safe!

Gone are the days when they'd take someone on at the drop of a hat if they liked the cut of his jib, even if he was a Russian agent

P.S. Obviously SC = security clearance, but what is DV?

    (I imagine V = vetting.)

Oh it's HRH. Hardly surprising they went that far back for your ultra-high clearance level

It's standard practice when vetting "double 0s", but of course we understand if you can't divulge any details

          I got it from here

I often see contracts advertised asking for 'security cleared' persons, I suppose if they put someone forward who has been cleared once, then they are likely to be cleared again.?

I think I would have a tough time getting high clearance - mischief I'm afraid
you'd be surprised! if you were totally honest and upfront, its likely you will get it. if you try and hide anything, then you get refused all!!! they want to know if you hiding that could be threat to being blackmailed etc, if you are honest with it, it means you less likely to be a target, or at least an easy one.

I'm not v clean, and was actually refused sc at first go. 2nd time round, this time through MOD and i got it (am an ex squaddie you see!). they reviewed me after 18mths and then said im fine until 2014. they did tell me that cos i was open, it all went in my favour.

I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

Funny.. the vetting officer never asked me about schooling during my DV interview? He did ask me if I had ever shagged a prostitute or had an extramarital affair though!!

            DV is ‘Developed Vetting’ BTW

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

So it must have been along interview then, explaining all that lot. Did he want vivid descriptions of what you did.

That's because our very own Double O is talking out his o-ring.

You don't need SC if you are a chippie unless you are the Queens cabinet maker.

They'll offshore it to India. Just like the CRB checks.
