You don't need SC if you are a chippie unless you are the Queens cabinet maker.

I got it from here
I often see contracts advertised asking for 'security cleared' persons, I suppose if they put someone forward who has been cleared once, then they are likely to be cleared again.?
I think I would have a tough time getting high clearance - mischief I'm afraid
I'm not v clean, and was actually refused sc at first go. 2nd time round, this time through MOD and i got it (am an ex squaddie you see!). they reviewed me after 18mths and then said im fine until 2014. they did tell me that cos i was open, it all went in my favour.Last edited by scooby; 15 April 2008, 18:31.

It's standard practice when vetting "double 0s", but of course we understand if you can't divulge any details

P.S. Obviously SC = security clearance, but what is DV?
(I imagine V = vetting.)

Gone are the days when they'd take someone on at the drop of a hat if they liked the cut of his jib, even if he was a Russian agent

Requests for any clearances required are raised during the contractual process. A number of commercial organisations advertise for staff with security clearances. This practice is neither necessary nor desirable, and is strongly discouraged by the MOD.
