Seriously though, I've not been able to find anything called "Linkedin" so I'm beginning to think it might be a figment.

it's been okay for me. I've had two oppurtunities for new roles. One failed and the other one I start next week. No Pimp involvement as it is direct to the client, so rate already has an extra 20% added on, thank you very much.

I suppose it is like everything else in life, you get out what you put in. I have invested a bit of time networking on the site. I have had my profile on there for about a year and have had two enquiries, my mate has had his for 18 months and not had any. But then again I have logged into my profile at least once bimonthly.

I have also managed to stay in touch with some previous colleagues, which has provided some laughs too.

So in general I found it quite useful.

One thing to bear in mind is that if you allow someone to join your network, they can browse your connections (though I think that can be proactively disabled.) So don't just allow anyone in there. [chortle chortle, guffaw, guffaw.] Sorry couldn't help it.

Beware, by adding your name/company on that site you are going to come up on google searches for said company and may find yourslef getting muchos cold calls/spam/unsolicited mail.
