I've already been looking, there's over 3x as many permie jobs advertised compared to contracts in the south west area at the moment.

It's a shame I have a basic standard of living to maintain or I might have been tempted.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

All this doom and gloom, I'm glad I'm in work until December. Looks like I'd better start being a bit more enthusiastic about the work!

I don't wanna have to do a Wilmslow, but I quite fancy changing my car and that will seriously erode my bench fund.

My old permie boss phoned me a few weeks ago and said they're stacked out with work. Theres a job opening there for me still.

Maybe we should apply for permie jobs under fake names, completely fluff them, then re-apply as contractors when they start thinking there's no-one decent around to do the permie work and their projects are falling behind.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Don't close that option Miffy. It looks like the finance sector is going to be very tough but elsewhere will be OK.
            I'm alright Jack

              Sounds like a reasonable strategy.

I'll call myself Peter Perv then and I'll mostly be interested in how many female employees they have on the premises.

Are you gonna be wearing Y-Fronts on your head for your permie interview?

Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I know that feeling, I've been told today "probably here till End Aug", It's been pretty quiet on Jobs for my role.

Certainly hasn't made a scrap of difference since start of April to the number of jobs coming along.
Some people are like slinkys, totally pointless but the thought of pushing them down a flight of stairs never fails to put a smile on your face.

                    You're not alone.
I'm finding more and more contractors have that "look of uncertainty" about them. In the last few months, none have rolled on to something else immediately.
Not good - I expect this to be an extinction winter for many.
The trouble is - do you keep solo or go permie?

                      Shaky forecast

Where I am based, all contractors are pushed to go permie or given a 1 month extension

Top it off with freeze on new contractors into the business
