I'm not so sure. A friend of mine has named his son Jak instead of Jack. I bet the late father of my mate, who his son is supposed to be named after, is spinning in his grave.

Not suprising really, just a combination of popular chav culture meets txt speak.

Just to wind them up I intend spelling the kid's name correctly on all birthday cards etc.

"Yzabel" sounds like they didn't like Isabel but couldn't bring themselves to call her their ideal choice, Jezabel

Friends of mine have just named their child Zak. I haven't found out why yet...

A teacher friend of my parents had a child in their class who's name was pronounced "Gooey".

Mum said that she'd read this book about Gooey and thought it was a nice sounding name, so that's what he was called.

Teacher: How "interesting". And how do you spell the name?
            Mum: G-U-Y

Snap. Probably from that dingle on emmerdale. Such a fine role model too.

Though the name probably originates from the bible (Zachariah), so not quite as chavy as other names being highlighted.

My personal favourite worst name from all my friends and family is Mercedes. I can imagine the stick that poor kid's going to get at school and beyond. Hopefully the parents will follow the lead of others around them and use the name Sadie instead.

I hope the teacher was embarrassed for the piss-poor education they seem to be giving these days.

Kid in a local theatre group is called Owine. Alledgedly 13 years old, behaves like a 9 year old pretending to be 13. From a rich family - he has a nanny.
