Back to the suits discussion
Austin Reed is too expensive for its quality.
I first met that Raja guy (Indian tailor) in Hong Kong (his base) about 7 years ago. He made me a good suit in 24 hours (while I was there) for $ 100. About 5 years ago, he started coming to teh UK and taking orders. He then used to post them back in brown bags until he got caught by the Customs. The one he sent me was (like MM said) abysmal and so ill-fitting that even after he fixed it I never went back to him. Now I see pictures of him in the Times, FT and every other broadsheet advertising his suits at £300 a throw. His UK tour itinerary is longer than Elton John's (and he is probably just as wealthy). Same false economy as offshoring, or another rip-off merchant.
