But I've noticed 2 odd things about Londoners

    (1) You can get to a pedestrian crossing, find 2 dozen of them already waiting, and yet nobody's pressed the button. You have to shove through 3 rows of them to get to it and press it yourself
The trick is is to work out how to cross the road without pressing the button.

Gives me a particularly good feeling as it's normally a woman with a buggy who standing around when I notice it.

Busy, dirty, unsafe, corrupt, diverse, rude, to name just a few words that pop into my head when I think of London.

I think I live in possibly the best city in England, I would disclose this but I fear once the secret is out people may consider it an option which could degrade things for those around me including myself who enjoy it (based on my own risk assessment of the consequences).

Thankfully as previously discussed (not on here) but with many others, most people are too proud to admit the truth so we are happy that they are happy in their own little world, far far away from us!

Also - I don't 'hate' London, it serves its purpose.

Why would a contractor buy lunch from Boots?

        Ugh, shudder, mass-produced muck.

Next you'll be telling me you shop at Kwik Save.

Rate rise time guys, afford a decent lunch.

About two years ago a London family who had recently moved to France knocked on our door and asked if they could have some wood.

We invited them in and after a while I asked them why they moved , their answer was that London is not a safe place to live.

We now call them the Refugees , sad really.

              Ain't that the truth!

I always think they protest too much about how great it is - it must be to convince themselves.

You can keep it for me - as others have said - serves a purpose but is really nothing special.

I like London but I wouldn't want to live there. I like the fact that up north it is generally cheaper and cleaner. Pretty much everything I want is available where I live - it's why I live there. I can't really think of anything which London can give me that Manchester or Leeds can't. When I think of it I'll visit London.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                I preferred version 1!

I'm the opposite - I press the button when I'm just walking past with no intention of crossing.

Foresight you see - I might change my mind a hundred yards down the road and decide I do want to cross it after all, and if the cars are all stopped that allows a nice gap in the traffic.

(and the thought of all those irate drivers stopped at an empty crossing is just the icing on the cake )

Don't miss living in London no more - having offspring certainly changes that. Sold our flats last year and moved out.

                    - 10 mins walk from the village playgroup / school
                    - 5 mins walk from the village shop / pubs
                    - 5 mins cycle from the house to local station (ie no car park costs)
                    - 60 min commute direct into Liv St (ok that's the only downside)
                    - 5 mins drive from the motorway
                    - Missus M doesn't need to work (ie no childcare / nanny costs)
                    - Large house (admittedly needs 60-100k of renovation)
                    - No chavs living next door / opposite

My brother has a small Georgian house in Camden that's just been valued at 960K. Its no bigger than mine and is 2 mins walk from a bad estate, the streets are littered, thieves, chavs and vagrants roam the streets and parking is a nightmare.

London is no place to bring up a family, the only types that think it is are liberal latte lappers.
