And let's not forget the fact that the whole operation was aided immensely by usage of the new Tetra system which gives the police all sorts of facilities they never previously had.

Like milk in cartons rather than out of bottles during their tea break?

FFS dude, the police did not know where bombers boarded transports -- there are so many places and so many unknown faces -- its not like London was white-only area and those terrorists were lonely there, it was pretty fecking hard job and while it seems that found IDs in blown trains gave a lead as to who they should look for, which probably lead them to find all 4 in the same place, which naturally clicked in minds that they are the people to look for -- still its very fast progress that certainly fully vindicates achieved balance between liberties and CCTV. The police who investigated need to get a medal or two for this kind of rapid work.

A medal for doing their job, and for investigating real crimes (rather than hunting women in bikinis)?

A medal for doing very hard job very fast and very well --- from all I can see they actually identified those people, not just arrested lots of asian people to appease public opinion of having done something -- this is the modus operandi for Russian police.

Yes, credit where credit is due.

Surely the MO of the Russian police is to line their pockets whenever possible. Stopping tourists and fining them for not having the 'proper' documentation is one such strategy.

Yeah that's what happens -- they are so corrupt that they just get paid by the terrorists to let them through, and sometimes even provide escort. It is a lot easier for terrorists to operate in a corrupt authoritarian society.

In the UK there is just as much corruption as anywhere else, only in the UK its not so in your face, and the corruption is a lot more sophisticated...

You have no idea about corruption: there is none in police when you compare them to their Russian counterparts, ie: if police stops you here drunk then you are fecked, in Russia its just a matter of bribe ($100-300, think it depends on how good car is).

More seriously all terrorist attacks in Russia took place with police being bribed on the way of terrorists not to check their cars.

What do you know about me to say I have no idea??? I have lived and been brought up in 3rd world countries where if you need anything done you need to have a connection or an insider, and I know exactly what I am talking about..... just because you can't bribe a police officer in the street doesn't mean that this police officer is uncorrupt, he is probably more corrupt than you ever think... but uk corrupt policemen are not stupid and they go for the big money and suphosticated oprations...
