    Worthwhile contracting in Bristol area?

Quite fancy a change from the usual London area and seeing as I have a few relatives not far from Bristol, wondering what the market is like over there for .Net type work. It's about the same travelling time as London for me so that's not an issue.

Jobserve suggests it's similar to up north where the vacancies will be few and possibly highly competed for. I've sent my CV to a couple of agencies in the area but the damn easter break is getting in the way of moving to the interview stage.

Anyone got any experience of contracting in that area and can enlighten me?
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Some banking IT work in Bristol, more agencies around in a small area so some new meeja (darling) work to be had, if they go for .NET, that is.

If it's as slow down there as it is up north, I guess I'm going to have to decide whether to wait for something to turn up, or do what I usually do and go where the work is regardless of location.

Would make a change to tie in work with being able to see more of my relatives down there, rather than settle for the London area again, where I'll be lonelier than a gimp with a jammed closed zip.

Lonelier than an orphan on Parent's day?

Edit: that was possibly a tad too harsh, bad taste, perhaps.
        Possible alternatives:
Lonelier than a geek at the prom?
Lonelier than a legless lady litigant?

Can someone please pass me my coat, thanks...

Indeed, there is a new media company I know about called E3 Media, based in Bristol. They may well run a .Net environment...
Don't ask Beaker. He's just another muppet.

Orange are also based in Bristol. But how much they use .Net I don't know.

On a serious note - there are quite a few design agencies trying to break into multimedia in Bristol - Unigraph, Studio6 and so on. Yell.com it.

Depends if by media you mean all that Flash, pretty gui bollocks. Graphical design is the one area I'm crap at, which is why I'm a developer and not a designer!

There usually needs to be some substance behind all the 'crayon' work - you may be lucky.

Yes. Shame about the rates at design agencies - they tend to be somewhat tulipe. At least around here they are.
