Exactly. There are entire communities in the North East and South Wales who (in my personal experience) exist on the permanent sick. Mostly for 'depression'.

It's astounding that most GPs can't seem to distinguish between clinical depression (a horrible affliction) and malingering (a lifestyle choice).

To be fair to the GPs, the boundaries are a lot more blurry in those geographical areas.

So from what almost everyone on here is saying… its Joe Bloggs fault that his £8 ph low skill job is now being done by someone else at £5.65? He should have accepted a 30% pay cut and got on with it despite the fact he could only just about afford to ‘get by’ before?

Joe Bloggs had aspirations and was saving up for a deposit on a small flat as he wanted to distance himself from the lazy feckers on benefit and create a better life for his family but he can no longer afford to save and the nasty BTL’ers have forced prices beyond what he could afford anyway, if he complains the chattering classes who have done well from BTL’s and who’s jobs are not under threat shout him down and call him lazy… what is Joe to do?

It could be part of a reconditioning program whereby the Polish work ethic (i.e no welfare) rubs off on them and they are then in a good position to take up jobs in the UK.

I will also add that wages have not gone down, they have simply stayed the same.

How comes the state educated members of this board have aspirations?

I think there is a general problem with parenting in this country particularly with the under class. All the teachers I know who work in state schools have been threatened not just by the kids but also the kid's parents. It so bad in some schools that they have to have pretend police ( PSCOs) in the schools.
