What I noticed today was that the BBC had the rugby (minority sport for public schoolboys) broadcast in HD but the FA Cup (national sport) broadcast in tulipty normal digital/anlogue. Hmmmmm... I wonder why....

If you can demonstrate that Soccer is either national or a sport, then you might have a point. A lot of people watch it because it's the only so-called sport the redtops talk about and it gets saturation coverage. Plus it's a simple game for simple folk, and appeals to those with tribal tendencies.

I enjoy the game of football, but the intemperate, selfish media-frenzy that is League Soccer is the biggest con this country has ever seen.

As for being a minority sport for public schoolboys, I suggest you drag yourself away from your widescreen Setanta, go visit a club rugby match and look at the spectators - who, incidentally, will likely have a beer in their hands and won't have been coralled into baying herds in case they attack anyone.
