A positive development for Turkey, but there are plenty of vested interests in the mullah world that will resist any attempts at change. It'll be seen as appeasing the West so Turkey has a better chance of joining the EU, so any enlightenment that comes out of revisiting and modernising the texts will be resisted from Islamabad to Bradfordistan on that basis alone.

I guess the only real hope is that Turkey inplements the new and improved version of Islam and does it so well it just exports itself...much like to Ottomans exported themselves!
