Are any of the big consultancies or corporates worth working with/for?
I've only had experience of a project that was taken over by IBM, and they were an absolute shower of she-ite. So any hint of EDS, Accenture, IBM in a contract vacancy and I lose all interest. Am I wrong?
maybe a lot of posts here are attempting humour, but really, you all deserve to be outsourced to India/China/Eastern bloc!!!!

Yes indeed! The propensity and absolute skill level in blagging from these locations now put British contractors to shame. That such essential business skills are being lost is something that requires urgent government intervention.
Why only yesterday, in a support case about why a JVM would just exit for no good reason, a cheerful chappy from an Indian call centre told me in all seriousness that it was because I had a flag "-Xnohup" on the command line, and that it should be removed.
it is relevant because my small cap friend the big fives train you to be a consultant and to think like a consultant and to have the consultant mentality to carry off any situation you are thrown into from project to project
and if you cannot carry it off, and you do not display the consultant mentality, then, well, being a big five consultant is not for you and you will be on your bike and looking for work in an end client IT department somewhere
there is no difference to what is being discussed here apart from posher wording

"if you want someone who knows all the technical reference books off by heart, I'm not your guy. There's nothing worse than getting someone in who's got a whole load of preconceived ideas in their heads that doesn't fit what you need them to do..."...
Hmm, I think I'll use that tomorrow, as I've a little blagging to do. OTOH, the three people I'll be interviewing to see whether I want to do their project, are non-technical, so I could just make it all up anyway.
I've often thought about blagging my way into a .NET contract for rate reasons, but always been slightly wary of completely rewriting the last 3 years of experience on my CV for fear of being caught out.
Does nobody else see this as a possible problem with blagging?
