I thought these days they broadcast classical music at full blast anywhere kids congregate in a threatening or obstructive manner - A dose of Mozart sends them running off screaming in all directions.

I hate youth scum - far too many of those in Russia, thankfully less here but still even one would be too many - I would not mind paying extra tax if it went into jails for just that kind of scum.Comment

Can't we just identify the trouble makers and send them to a gulag, rather than give all "yoofs" the same treatment?Comment

Do they still have conscription in Russia?Originally posted by AtW View PostI hate youth scum - far too many of those in Russia, thankfully less here but still even one would be too many - I would not mind paying extra tax if it went into jails for just that kind of scum. How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't thinkComment

Yes. I dodged it (legally), and so do 90%+ of young men who are supposed to be called up. I would not mind (if I was younger) to serve in the British army though, even if it was in Iraq - I did not hear British generals using British soldiers as cheap slave labour when building their summer houses or selling British soldiers to local businesses as cheap labour - it's so common in Russian army that it is no longer even something ridiculous.Originally posted by Troll View PostDo they still have conscription in Russia?Comment

What a load of old bollocks!!
I was bored as a teenager, so what did I do? I went out on my bike and rode all over the place seeing what was about. I sat in home and played one of the 5 odd games I had on my Amiga again and again and again. I vegged in front of the TV. I went out with my friends and messed about with a football, or a rugby ball. Occasionally we would all go round somebody else's house and have a few drinks.
Most of the time I would moan that I was bored and that there was nothing to do.
Did I ever assault anybody? NO! Did I ever shout and scream at, or intimidate anybody? NO!
I knew that if I did anything like that the police would get involved and if I was ever brought home by the police I would get a damn good kicking and lose any privileges that I had.
The problem these days is that kids have no respect and parents don't teach them any. IMHO the blame lies squarely with the parents.

You know it makes sense - so why still argue?Comment

I dodged draft legally on health grounds as well as by being in University.Originally posted by shaunbhoy View Post

As I said I would have liked serving in the army, but it should be a decent army not army where soldiers are cannon fodder and slaves that are there to be abused. Do you know how many soldier deaths happen in Russian army right now? Around 1000 per year, this is more than USA was losing during war time in Iraq last year!!! Why do you think those people die in Russian army? Because of abuse.Comment

I disagree with any indiscriminate tool and blanket solution.
Part of what I see is the problem is that we have spent the last 30 years diluting the penal system. The bleeding hearts and artists have held sway for so long that we have no real deterents or punishments any more.
These kids have no respect or idea of responsibility. They laugh at ASBOs or treat them as a badge of honour.
We need more police, more borstals and more prisons. Bang em up.
Stop using easy targets to spin the "crime" figures and get on with protecting the public, including the under 25s.I am not qualified to give the above advice!
