If a person is going to murder you, they are going to murder you end of story. No laws or possible consequences (or lack thereof) is going to stop them from murdering you.

Slapping them with a wet rag, or your wit, isnt the solution but removing them permanently from society is.

Now, perhaps there would be no need for the death sentence if life in prison ment exactly that.

Why not give people the choice once convicted of murder i.e. Fred West. Harold Shipman by leaving a loose bit of rope around.

That way we have a high chance of getting rid of them, no one has to be an executioner and the taxpayer doesn't have to pay for a lifetime in prison if they decide to take the choice.

And I don't believe in the death penalty because of the way the Guildford 4, etc where framed by the police. If the media blows up a crime and they do choose particular crimes to focus on, then it's likely the preputrators will get the death penalty if convicted.

Personally I have no problems with those scum who murdered the father last year who challenged them when they smashed the windscreen on his wifes car. Its scum like this that must be removed...PERMANENTLY...from society.

Also, just because someone is found guilty of murder doesnt automatically mean they will get the death sentence, although Im pretty sure all those guilty of murder are all very nice, law abiding citizens!

Wow, that's a comfort. If ever I get wrongly convicted I can still sleep at night because some bumbling bureaucracy could mean it might be years before they do the deed itself.

In the meantime all I need to do is ensure mine is a human interest story which somehow manages to get press attention...
