I think he means Denmark buys its power from a nuclear equipped neighbour.

As with all technologies, nuclear power production has progressed hugely since the 1950's. France leads the world in this area due to continuous policy of nuclear power usage, central to energy policy.
Why do we have to re-invent the wheel, buy the technology in and train up the next generation of British nuclear experts.
As a safety precaution, I suggest siting all plants on the East coast to take advantage of the generally westerly wind in the event of any problems !!
That goes for the awesome trains the French have too, buy them in, it can't be more than designing from scratch and will be a lot quicker to implement !

The trains are not the problem, it is the lack of french lines that is the stumbling block!

I agree with the turbines - load of hot air! The nuclear issue is another thing though, as it will certainly provide cheaper energy but at what cost too? To build and maintain nuclear reactors to the highest safety standards is not cheap and the main players like EDF, E.ON, etc have said they are willing to invest if the Gov't is willing to guarante their loans, a bit like NR. Nuclear industry is so far state-owned for that reason.

Nuclear industry is state owned because it used to be a cover for weapons fuel development.

Now that this is not longer necessary, the state (rightly) has no desire to own power stations.

And I don't agree about the Turbines. It's perfectly possible to build stored energy power stations (we already have some) which are used when the wind drops and recharged as necessary. Of course we can't have 100% turbines (but no-one has said that we should) but to say that they can't make a positive contribution is silly.

Russian official statistics say 90,000,000 curies. So that's equivalent to 1.8 tonnes of Co-60, or 30 kg of Po-192. Apparently the fall-out was equivalent to a mid-yield nuclear blast.

As it's an official government (and Russian government at that), it might be sensible to multiply by 10.

Well, it's simple really, most of the power in Denmark comes from several nuclear power stations, although Denmark only has one small one which doesn't produce electricity anyway. Denmark incidentally declares itself nuclear free.

Is it really so hard to understand?

Much like Denmark is the happiest place on Earth to live.
