If I were to drive around oxford with my car stereo turned up so loud that everyone for a mile around could hear me I would be stopped and fined. If anything this is one rule for one, and another for the rest of us! -
I declare DodgyAgent the winner of the argument (by an English country mile).
Well done for playing to those who argued against him.

That's more than reasonable requirement. There are plenty of countries with Sharia law and they don't have huge barriers to those who wish to come and live there to practice that faith.Originally posted by DodgyAgentIt is interesting how the word racist is used to replace debate. Whilst I believe it is entirely appropriate for the UK to embrace people of mixed religion there are some "red lines" that need enforcing:
Firstly that every citizen swears an oath of allegiance to our head of state, and if called upon to fight in a war they do so (they can still be free to disagree with the Iraq war)
One school curriculum for all
Learn English to the point where we do not need to subsidise translators (or they pay for them)
If they dont like Christianity being our national religion, live with it
If the laws of the land contradict their own religious beliefs (arranged marriage) then go and live somewhere where it is legal to practice your beliefs.
Like children, people need boundaries, and if muslims were forced to live their lives according to our laws and culture, and to respect our traditions then no one would mind if their church belted out calls to prayer.
And whilst so many of you guilt ridden, patronising little nobodies are so praising the muslim faith and extolling its virtues, maybe you can show us all an example of where floods of western immigrants are applying for patriality to a muslim country?Comment

I second that. Not very well played the rest of you - liberals and racists alike. The truth, as always, is somewhere in betweenOriginally posted by Xenophon View PostI declare DodgyAgent the winner of the argument (by an English country mile).

Partly because we aren't allowed to have a sense of national pride these days as it's not PC.Originally posted by cailin maith View PostThats it, isn't it? Not enough English people are proud to be English...

We are discouraged from displaying the St. George Cross (Because only yobs do that.
We are discouraged from being proud of our history because we were obviously bloody horrible running the British empire, we should instead apologise for it despite the many good things that came about because of it.
We are discouraged from having our own traditions because it may upset other people who come to live in this country.
It's no wonder we don't have a sense of national pride........Comment
