Debt only matters for the little people. It gets them out to work, especially when we threaten to take their house away. It gets them focused, more productive and easier to control, thus increasing the surplus value of their labour to cream off.
Does this mean that you grasped the opportunity to take on heaps of debt during these past years of excess?
Debt does matter to me - because I'm awaiting the time when it will be the ultimate cause of asset price deflation.
No I bought my house sans mortagage and dont owe anybody a red cent - save about 150 quid currently on a credit card which at any rate I pay off every month - I have do this otherwise I have no credit rating despite owning a property and having no debts.
Personally I wish I had chalked up mountains of debt and walked away from it all and vansihed into bankruptcy.

Why???
Yes you might have had a blast for a couple of years, but in bankruptcy you'd then own nothing. As of now you are in a strong position to capitalise on the forthcoming crisis. Ca c'est vrai ne c'est pas?
