At admiral.com , I was just quoted 750 gbp for Audi A3 2004 - much lower than any of those ( confused.com ) "What-a-load-of-crap" comparison sites had offered. These time-losing sites have only one purpose - collect your personal data and sell it to marketing companies.

The sites actually send your information to the insurers on the site. So the trick is to put in an incorrect telephone number by accident, and make sure you check the right marketing boxes. That way you only get one or two pieces of junk mail rather then them ringing you up.Originally posted by 2uk View PostThese time-loosing sites have only one purpose - collect your personal data and sell it to marketing companies."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

I found confused.com were very good. DirectLine were the ones that made a big fuss about refusing to deal with them, but that was mainly because it showed up that DirectLine weren't nearly as competitive as they used to be. They count on you getting pissed off and not looking further than the well known brands - something confused.com does for you.
And yes you should be insuring for business use. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

Not necessarily. Some price comparison sites are paid commission or pay for advirtisement by the companies whose products your searches reach. That is, the site won't necessarily find the cheapest or best product for you, but the ones they make money from.Originally posted by 2uk View PostAt admiral.com , I was just quoted 750 gbp for Audi A3 2004 - much lower than any of those ( confused.com ) "What-a-load-of-carp" comparison sites had offered. Nope. The only way would be for the company to buy the car, then you'll get royally screwed on tax thus negating any kind of benefit.Originally posted by 2uk View PostAlthough it is a personal car , If you insure for biz use , can u expense the insurance ?
Your mileage claims for business journeys is meant to cover the complete expense of the journeys you'll make in your car (which is a two seater Porsche really isn't it?)

Maybe lots of the sites are closed at midnight on a Saturday? I suggest retrying sometime on Monday. I think when I used confused.com I got at least 20 quotes.Originally posted by 2uk View PostI took the last 2 hours to register at confused.com and https://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ . Both sites were promising I will be getting over 60 online quotes.
Well most of the sites were not able to return result for all sorts of reasons , the 3 -4 quotes i got range between 1 and 4 k for my desired 12k Audi A3.
Now this is going to take some time If I am to input all that information over and over again in search for less than 1 k quote.
\
That 1 to 4 k is fishy for a 12 K car ... I wonder if selecting IT Consultant had biased the quote..Comment

It only takes ages if you do it wrong.Originally posted by 2uk View Post

takes facking ages to input all the fackin information , god ****** knows where it goes. ******
The information goes off to many different insurance companies who will then return their quote to you.
