The Russians under the Romanovs were in a damn site pooier state than under Communism.
The people who think he was a great leader learned to think that way out of fear. Jews during the Spanish Inquisition had religious experiences where they saw Jesus. Not too much difference IMHO.
Under the Romanov's food production and life expectation for the poor increased, whereas under communism it fell dramatically.Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

If anything it is a minor point that the peasants who left the land still believing they owned it, and those that farmed the land, believing they owned the land they farmed.
What really happened is the Russians were losing to the Germans in WW1. It was a war of attrition and the Russians couldn't afford it. There was a political upheaval in a couple of key cities and the communists grabbed the chance offered. That's all. If another group had been quicker off the mark, history would be quite different.Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

But, just as in the French Revolution, it didn't stop there.
Stalin took control, got rid of the revolutionaries and what followed was Stalinism, not Communism.
BTW, the Romanovs were already changing when the revolution occurred. They had been made to see the light and were making serious improvements. They had to be gotten rid of symbolically and 'just in case'. As per Charles I's execution - just in case.
Communism and the soviet experiment might have worked, and would warrant re-trying, especially in Africa. But 'communism' is a bad word as it is an alternative to very rich capitalists getting richer so we're not allowed to try it.Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.
