        Personally, two reasons:-

        1. I took this contract because I was unemployed (from a permie job) for two years and was living off savings that disqualified me from benefits - and so I took the first available contract even though the rate isn't at all great.

        2. I am in the process (just completed) of getting a divorce and suffering from settlement blues).
        It's Deja-vu all over again!
