I do a bit of rowing, my advice is

    1. forget the gym, unless you are totally committed you won't go often enough. The time you save in travelling, you could have one the workout at home

    2. Splash out on a concept2 rower, it's the only one worth getting. It will cost £750 used or £1k new, BUT it won't lose it's value. If you pay £750 now, you wll sell t for £700-£750 next year

    3. Check out www.concept2.co.uk for training plans, everything from weightloss to 2km racing.

    4. Check out the Concept2 forum for more advice and motivation

    5. Just get on and do something, anything, just do it. All the machines in the world won't get you fit unless you use them regularly,40min a day, 4 days a week min to see real improvement in fitness/weightloss

    6. Running on the road is the cheapest exercise ever, £50 for a pair of trainers and your sorted

Very sound advice from the newbie. Although if you are above a certain .weight the road running will place too much strain on your joints
        Hard Brexit now!

agreed, although i am 6'4", 16st and just getting back into running. Built to row not run, but running burns calories faster if your heavy.

I am working away so get to run on pavements in Cheltenham at night, so fairly safe, I agree it's not much fun in the dark if your in the country lanes

Waterrowers are good, not sure on the resale value though if you get fed up, and times on the monitor are not comparable to others using C2's, so you can't use any C2 training plans as the paces won't match

They do look good, polished wood and the sound of waves.

Only one thing you got to remember, burn more calories than you eat = weight loss.

Also weight lifting is a must when getting fit or trying to lose weight, id suggest getting a small dumbell set from decathlon or something and doing some compound weight routines 2-3 times a week.

All these machines are a waste of money, all you need is a good pair of running shoes and a park. If you dont like running outdoors then all you need is a tredmill and a dumbell set.

Also get your metabolism up, read up on nutrition and healthy diets.

Remember to eat a big breakfast followed by a meal every 3 hours, adjust your calorie intake according to the ammount of exercise you do.

And lastly don't over do it, remember to have at least a couple of rest days each week with plently of sleep.
What he said. In fact, if you are just starting out I would recommend to avoid cardio work. Instead improve your eating habits and focus on strength training and general exercise to increase your metabolism.

prices are usually cheaper on http://www.concept2.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=7

they go pretty quickly though. Where abouts are you, i know of one for sale in Hartlepool, £750 hardly used. The bloke bought two, one for the gym one for outside, but never used the 2nd one.

Based in London but looking at the pics, will need to clear out some space in the spare room first.

What is the latest model? The 'D'?
