Subtract from those millions those who would've been murdered, raped, maimed and traumatised, those who would've been murdered, raped, maimed and traumatised under Saddam's regime.

IIRC, war is not politics, it is diplomacy.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Maybe the title of this thread should be "Who got it right, the Americans or the Poms?".

You can argue (and no doubt you will) until the cows come home about whether the invasion was right or wrong or shake it all about BUT you cannot deny that since the serge kicked in that violence across Iraq has fallen, and continues to fall daily.

So, if them evil imperialist pigs from yankee land can get it right...whats Britains excuse for losing in Basra?

To Dodgy (Historian) Agent: Faux Pas

So the regime of Saddam Hussein's is what you call "normal" is it? I suppose to a Greek it would be.

Let's not forget Saddam was put in power by the west, and while he was gassing his own people the USA et al were supplying the amunition. Remember Donald Rumsfeld visiting as a special envoy from Ronnie Reagan? presenting Saddam with a special friend award. Apparently his action were more than acceptable at the time, but later deemed morally corrupt or was it politically convienient to re-write history? Shame they couldn't airbrush out their complicity.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Just as you are airbrushing out all the other political dynamics of the middle east of the last fifty years.
