This is only right. After all, by taking up an extra seat the passenger is depriving Air France of a chance to charge another person for that seat.

If everyone was 20 stone then planes would only be able to carry half the number of passengers, seems reasonable to me.

I'd be interested to know what Michael O'Leary thinks.

I think the airlines could justify charging by weight, but the way they treated this chap was disgraceful.
If they are going to charge by weight then they should have to provide extra large seats to fit the price.
It does seem that seats are getting smaller and more cramped on both planes and trains these days.

Admitedly I am expanding at the rate of a small universe, but the seats are getting tighter. 3 where ther used to be 2 etc.
