I rent in Docklands during the week and go home Friday night. You'll quickly tire of hotels and if you get a 6 month contract it's just as economic/much better for you than staying in a hotel. Budget hotels are horrible, soulless places. I pay £1050 per month in rent (I'm on a good rate) but it's all deductible. My flat has a gym/pool/sauna on the complex - you wouldn't get that at a Travellodge, plus the complex has an active sports/social club. For food I shop on Monday lunchtime for the week and that costs me around £30 which is one night's dinner in a hotel (if you're lucky).
IR35 caught? Nope.
