North Yorkshire coast, just down from Scarborough, proper seaside place, fishing boats, lovely beach, a few amusements but not much, real pubs, nice fish and chips, largely untouched by the 21st century!

Filey has yet to reach the 20th century! Nice and quiet

The Yorkshire resorts, Scarborough, Whitby & Bridlington are all good.

Avoid Withernsea (you hear banjo's playing as you enter) and nothing there.

In the South, Southsea is my choice and Deal in Kent is nice, I imagine it being how Warmington On Sea from Dads Army was like (& probably hasn't changed much).
