Why isn't there ever any good news?

Why is there never any good news to report?

I mean like wouldn't it be nice if the news was about how young people were paying the least tax and were being handed out education based on ability and want of learning, and being motivated to succeed instead of aiming to get the most ASBOs.

Wouldn't it be great to read about how Gordon Brown was actually prudent during the Labour reign and had used the boom cycle to horde away billions in reserve funds, and also held onto the UK gold reserves instead of selling them off at 1/4 of today's prices. And then that he was going to use these billions to fund the UK through the forthcoming economic downturn which would enable the country to take advantage of global financial crises and to bring it back up as a financial powerhouse. All whilst reducing the tax burden on citizens and providing for the poor and helpless.

It's just so depressing to read about this problem and that problem and this tax burden and that debt burden and another crisis or another public funding overrun etc etc.

Here's some linky ...not really good news but it made me smile.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

People don't want to hear good news.

They want to hear how badly someone else is doing!

Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

yeah and why don't they end the news with a bon mot about the royal family anymore and why doesn't the national anthem get played at the end of the days transmission and why doesn't the tv reduce into a tiny tiny dot and go ping! when you turn the tv off?
