Bit disingenuous to say "the English" when a very large number of people working in England are in fact not "English" at all though. Furthermore, a great many people actually agree that these programmes are in fact the very things we should be spending our money on, and not frittering countless billions away on unpopular wars and benefits for the feckless. The Barnett formula was a noble idea in its time, and I don't believe despite the right-wing press that it was only introduced with Scotland in mind, however I must agree it needs revisiting at least.

Well I totally agree with you there. I do not believe they should be allowed to veto things in quite the way they currently can. Sounds a lot like 'cake and eat it syndrome' to me. Slightly pedantic point though, these are not "freebies" as such, I prefer to think of them as monies spent actually, for once, giving the populace what they actually want and deserve.

Well they are politicians after all. More faces than the Town Hall Clock the lot of them. I doubt that many south of the border would be complaining if HMG negotiated such deals for us all from the EU though. Some green eyes in evidence I reckon.

Sorry, wasnt suggesting all and I know it is a complicated issue.

That was part of the original story. Where is the 500 Million (or equivelant share) for the North of England or the midlands?
England is London centric so all the benefits go to London then equivelants are handed out to Scotland and Wales. The people doing worst out of the UK are the provincial counties.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Yes but it's running out now so I'd keep stum if I was you. I'd love to get a chance to vote on scottish independence.

Thing is it's running out, but they keep finding new ways to get at the reserves that weren't practical a decade or so ago so actually it's not about to run out any time soon (Maybe not even in our lifetime).

There is no alernative IMHO - it's not wise to have such a big concentration of businesses in one place, costs will always be high and there is no way to solve problems with congestion because extra capacity will be used up.

Yes but I think the money now being thrown into the central pot is less than the money being sent back to Scotland. A big difference to 30 years ago when it comes to independence.

They obviously didn't teach you about the free market in your citizenship test.
I know you're a bit slow on the uptake, but here it is, spelt out simply:

COMPANIES ARE FREE TO BE WHEREVER THEY WANT

                    HTH.

PS There's a reason why they're all in London, BTW. Try and work it out
