What a load of rubbish. I have not even posted much in the last year, when did I start attacking muslims at every opportunity? You seem to be confusing me with some other posters.

The point about "honour killings" in Islam is that they seem to kill females for doing "dishonourable" things - it is more of a Western feature to kill other men for dishonouring their women.

There is a history of my posts on this board - anyone analyse them all easily to see that your statement is false: this means you are a liar.

cool! whereabouts? my missus grew up in dubai, her old man was the customs and excise boss at the port.. didn't spend her teens there though - they packed her off to boarding school in england, without joining her.. 11 year old, on a flight by herself to a different continent to spend 6 years away living in a school.. trust me, be greatful you got to stick around.. a british education does not outweight the emotional damage caused by separation from the family.

i'd love to explore the middle east, big time.. would have to take care in some regions being a westerner though, thanks to bush's terrorism of the region (and blair for being a yes-man muppet).

Kuwait, before Sadam invasion, those days Kuwait was top Gulf country... now Dubai is the new Kuwait... I really do want to get a contract in UAE, been looking at roles there, but they don't have a sort of contracts as such, but there are plenty of roles as a permie and the financial rewards are good and tax free.... unfortunately its an awkward time for me at the moment with kids doing their last couple of years at school, may be when they leave to Uni.

Agreed, emotional trauma of separating kids to go to boarding school is too harsh, mind you I knew a kid who was a talented pianist (got on top musician of the year some years ago) his parents were living in Kuwait and had to send him to a specialist music school in Wells.... there was no other option, when he was about to finish school we asked him from his own experience if he would send his own kids to boarding school and his answer was yes.... so thought may be the kids can take it, as for me as a parent I don't think I can take separation from my babies

Did she ever retract her "all English are racist" comment?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

No idea - I don't exactly follow her posts.

i tend to hear the same things about dubai - stunning beaches and swanky hotels but essentially a pretty soulless place.. i suppose coming from a european nation where history and heritage is growing on trees, i can maybe understand that feeling.. obviously that's not true of the whole middle east, i just heard/read that dubai was pretty barren until recently.. my partner taught there for a few years not too long back, loved it and of course her bank account swelled.

when he was about to finish school we asked him from his own experience if he would send his own kids to boarding school and his answer was yes
interesting.. ask him again in 10 years, it may be a stiff upper lip response, or maybe he's not had enough time to understand the impact.. i've known people say "well, i spent from age 8 to 18 at bording school and it never did me any harm".. well, you could say that but you're a 35 year old woman, single, no kids, no close friendships and pretty neurotic.

my kids are 3 and 1, i'd uproot and leave the country tomorrow but my other half isn't game (been there done that etc.)

Barry - yes Europe has more history, but what's history did for me and family? On most jobs I had to leave home around 6:30 am and not be home before 7pm, Sat spent groceries shopping and Sunday catching up on the house work and paper work... No one can really claim having a good quality of life in this country (well perhaps the unemployed?) When we were in Kuwait the latest my dad got home was 2 pm, School also finished around 1:30 we'd have lunch together as a family then hit the beach or town for shopping, or visiting relatives and neighbours, we spent most of the day together as a family - to me that is worth a million bloody castle and estate homes that have to charge me loads of money to get into them to see how rich they are... I hate the quality of life we have had in the UK , and regret making the decision to settle here.
