Current performance says Scotland deserve it. Not sure why you have to mention England in this though? Issues?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

The top nine teams will be seeded for the 2010 World Cup qualifying rounds.

I would not say issues, most Scots will agree that we will never be quite as good as England but we are a smaller country etc. I can't recall another time when we were so close to England in the rankings.......

I have seen that, and I still dont understand it. There are another 8 teams above England that Scotland are approaching. There are 3 teams that they are closer to overtaking.
I suppose there is always some interest between the home nations but I see no need for promoting this kind of rivalry.
I am genuinely pleased for Scotland. I regard them as one of the worlds best football nations (especialy when you take size into account). I still feel Celtic winning in Europe with a local footie team is one of the achievements of all time.

I don't see it as rivalry, I see it as a measure of our success this tournament and if I was English, I would take it as a compliment that my team was being used as the yard stick...

Yes, but to me it doesnt come across like that. Maybe I have issues, but I read it along the lines of "as long as we are better than England" type comments.

i like scotland, and the scottish.. there are statues of scots at england's two biggest clubs.. matt busby and bill shankly - freakin giants among men, particularly shanks.. i'm not a liverpool fan but what he and his boot room understudies achieved is staggering.

Well that would be silly because the stats show we have a way to go to catch up...being reallistic.

Surely this is the only one that counts:

Interestingly England have slipped a place to Argentina! Not quite sure how they figure it out
