At least they're replacing it free of charge. They e-mailed me a UPS label which I just add to a box containing the console (I get to keep the hard drive and my game saves) and UPS will pick it up on Monday.

Most importantly, it wasn't an Indian call centre. The guy I spoke to was a real live American who understood what I was talking about.

So although my early model 360 was part of a batch that were dodgy, the customer service has been excellent. Don't normally get to praise MS like that...

Have you purchased any of the arcade games?

If so do you have more than one gamer tag on your system?

If so when you get the "refurbished" box from M$ (which will probably be older than the one yousent to them) the arcade games you have bought will only work for the person who purchased them ie not the other profiles.

This happened when I sent mine back - the Indian call centre bloke I got through to didn't have a clue about what the problem was - I had to explain to him why the games were no longer working - they use some generic call centre that don't solely deal with them so they aren't that clued up.

I ended up getting a refund for all the games which wasn't so bad as I could still play them - my son and wife couldn't when signed in as them - but I just ended up buying a load on new games instead of rebuying the same ones.

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh. MyXBox-360 has gone the way of the dodo. Have to wait 20 days for a replacement from MS.

I always enjoy new games for about a week as everyone is still learning the ropes, by week 3 you have to compete with the ‘733t’ who play for 6 hours a day... no chance.

There are some gaming communities aimed at older gamers ‘2old2play’ is one, another is ‘game-veteran’ worth checking out if you’re fed up of having your ass handed to you on plate by a 10 year old.

I play Counter Strike on a clan server run by the GoG's. Grumpy old Gits. They regularly ban anyone who looks like they might be any good or less than 30 yrs old

And it's back. Arrived back yesterday. Less than 2 weeks turnaround which isn't too bad. Only bad side is that I had no e-mails from MS telling me what was going on.

I do have Halo 3 in my mitts now, and it's just as awesome as I'd expected. I am performing below n00b status online at the moment though
