Halo 3 looks lovely on an HD telly. I saw the demo rolling in Currys on Saturday. Is it worth getting an Xbox 360 Elite over a Premium?

Halo 3 is a great game but most 360 owners will agree that it doesn't look that great so if you're impressed with that you'll be blown away by CoD4 when it’s released in November.Originally posted by Chugnut View PostHalo 3 looks lovely on an HD telly. Halo 3 multiplayer is hard going as there were about 10,000,000 Halo 2 experts and this plays virtually the same, so be prepared to get your ass spanked for a few months before you stand a chance.
Most Premiums in the shops have a HDMI now but the Elite comes with a much bigger HD so in the long run I'd go for a '733t'.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Took me less than 12 hours to finish it on normal - it's a lot easier than Halo 2. Unfortunately the console crashed before the end cut scene so I've got to play the last mission and a half again.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostHalo 3 is a great game but most 360 owners will agree that it doesn't look that great so if you're impressed with that you'll be blown away by CoD4 when it’s released in November.

I have to say that I think the game looks amazing - there is so much detail everywhere - especially in the forest scenes. I'm looking forward to buying an HD tv to fully appreciate it."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? Apparently it only runs at 1152x640 to keep the frame rate up, PGR3 ran at 1024x600, the 360 is capable of 1280x720 (some will say it outputs 1080P but it's upscaling 720P so not true 1x1 pixel mapping) so there are better looking more detailed games, I still think it looks good but they are holding back a bit presumably so the multiplayer runs smoothly with 16 players. See Bioshock for a good example of how good things can look, its only single player so they had all the processing power to play with.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostTook me less than 12 hours to finish it on normal - it's a lot easier than Halo 2. Oh god, I feel like a real geeky nerd now.

What use is the bigger HD? Can't just be for save games. Can you run Media Centre on this thing?
I don't want to chip it - my last Xbox has had "issues" since I had this done.

You can download demo's from the marketplace and some are over 1gb so it’s easy to fill it up, in America they have just launched a HD movie and TV download service which will be launched in Europe soon so the bigger hard drive will be useful then.Originally posted by Chugnut View PostThanks GJ.

The DL manager is fantastic, just pick what you want and it DL’s when the 360 is either not being used on live or it goes into a semi standby mode when you switch it off, only fully turning off when its finished.
You can stream stuff from your PC but MS are tied up by copyright laws so the best thing to do is install something called TVersity on your PC and then you can stream whatever you like.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You can keep as much media as you like on the Xbox, but it's also a "Media Centre Extender" so it can grab content from your PC (or Mac if you run "Connect 360") and display it in big-screen goodness.Originally posted by Chugnut View PostThanks GJ.
