We aren't at Orwell's level of "Thoughtcrime" yet are we? The law provides for people who know/knew about an imminent/actual crime to be arrested as accessories, surely?

I see today in the news that a New Labour munster lookalike is pushing the EU to let Turkey join again.

When you think of the pourous borders into Turkey, their huge Muslim population and their poor standard of living, it doesn't take a genius to guess what will happen when they join the gang.

Most people of all religions don't take their holy books literally.
Even if you did, it takes quite a lot of balls to actively commit to terrorism even if you are a committed religionist.
I recall polls in the UK consistently show a higher level than you would expect of Muslims "supporting" violent action even if they would never commit it themselves.

You're not looking at the bigger picture. I support Turkey joining the union provided there is no freedom for Turkish nationals to work in the EEC for a few years. Reasons for this:

- Turkey is no poorer than Greece or Portugal when they joined the EC in the 80s
- Prosperity is the best innoculation against extremism
- Turkey is officially secular and would act as a good example to officially Islamic countries
- Islamist extremists couldn't claim the West is against all Muslims per se.

What's Hitler got to do with anything? Unless you're saying that nazism, communism and maoism have very much in common with religious cults. So you could say Hitler invented a religion/cult in which the Jews were the unchosen people.

I have my doubts about Islam, I'm afraid. Some parts of the Koran are explicit about the need for violence, in a way that even the most bloodthirsty parts of the Bible are not.

Hence why people who come from a literal-minded culture would follow those bits?
