We aren't at Orwell's level of "Thoughtcrime" yet are we? The law provides for people who know/knew about an imminent/actual crime to be arrested as accessories, surely?Hard Brexit now!

I see today in the news that a New Labour munster lookalike is pushing the EU to let Turkey join again.
When you think of the pourous borders into Turkey, their huge Muslim population and their poor standard of living, it doesn't take a genius to guess what will happen when they join the gang.

So was Hitler following the Bible when he was implementing the final solution?Originally posted by sasguru View PostMost people of all religions don't take their holy books literally.
Even if you did, it takes quite a lot of balls to actively commit to terrorism even if you are a committed religionist.
I recall polls in the UK consistently show a higher level than you would expect of Muslims "supporting" violent action even if they would never commit it themselves.Comment

You're not looking at the bigger picture. I support Turkey joining the union provided there is no freedom for Turkish nationals to work in the EEC for a few years. Oh Dear.
- Turkey is no poorer than Greece or Portugal when they joined the EC in the 80s
- Prosperity is the best innoculation against extremism
- Turkey is officially secular and would act as a good example to officially Islamic countries
- Islamist extremists couldn't claim the West is against all Muslims per se.
Carrot and stick diplomacy works best
Hard Brexit now!

What's Hitler got to do with anything? Unless you're saying that nazism, communism and maoism have very much in common with religious cults. So you could say Hitler invented a religion/cult in which the Jews were the unchosen people.Originally posted by Clippy View PostSo was Hitler following the Bible when he was implementing the final solution?Hard Brexit now!

Indeed .. the intellectually challenged one is correct, how can we tolerate those for whom this is the word of God?Originally posted by sasguru View PostI have my doubts about Islam, I'm afraid. Some parts of the Koran are explicit about the need for violence, in a way that even the most bloodthirsty parts of the Bible are not.
Hence why people who come from a literal-minded culture would follow those bits?
"Cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads. Strike off even the tips of their fingers!" (Sura 8:12).
"Fighting is obligatory for you Muslims." (Sura 2:216).
"And if you shall be slain or die on the path of God, then pardon from God and mercy is better than all your amassings; For if you die or be slain, verily unto God shall you be gathered." (Sura 3:151,2).
"Verily, the infidels are your undoubted enemies!" (Sura 4:102).
"Believers! wage war against such of the infidels as are your neighbors, and let them find you rigorous." (Sura 9:124).
"Give not way therefore to the Infidels, but by means of this Koran strive against them with a mighty strife." (Sura 25:54).
"Those who resist Allah and His Messenger will be crumbled to dust, as were those before them: for we have already sent down Clear Signs and the Unbelievers will have a humiliating Penalty." (Sura 58:5).
"Those who reject faith (Islam) and belie our signs. They shall be Companions of the Fire and abide in it." (Sura 2:39).
"The Curse of Allah is on those without faith (in Islam). Thus have they drawn wrath upon wrath on themselves and humiliating is the punishment of those who reject faith (Islam)." (Sura 2:89-90).
"The Punishment for those who oppose Allah and his messenger is: Execution or Crucifixion or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides or exile from the land." (Sura 5:33).
"If you do not fight, He Allah will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Sura 9:39)'.
"The curse of God on the infidels!" (Sura 2:83).
"Let not believers take infidels for their friends rather than believers: who so shall do this has nothing to hope from God." (Sura 3:27).How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't thinkComment

The Bible's Old Testament is full of similar, violent nonsense e.g.Originally posted by Troll View PostIndeed .. the intellectually challenged one is correct, how can we tolerate those for whom this is the word of God?.
