    London congestion charge

Telegraph: Millionaire leaves rare sports car in pound.

    I love this bit:

In my defence, I would say that parking in the TfL car pound is not that expensive relative to the cost of parking in central London.

Although the story is quite comical it does highlight the fact that rich people are not affected by such inconveniences as parking tickets or congestion charges. DVLA should be allowed to keep it and keep the proceeds of any auction to make an example of him.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

He will have to pay a £5000 fine. Or are you suggesting CC fines should be means tested?!

Yes but as soon as it affects me I will change my mind, I used to vote labour before I became a contractor. I have become a selfish individual but that’s the only way you can prosper in a capitalist society.

I've thought about this and it all hinges on whether a fine is meant to be a punishment or a charge, if it is meant to be a punishment then why not give offenders 3 points on their license rather than just fine them? I've managed to drive for 19 years without picking up a parking ticket by not parking in a place where I know I shouldn’t, does this sound reasonable and fair to all?

I hate the sort of person who expects their office PA to sort out their personal life. Too busy to get it taxed? Was he too busy to get it insured as well?

Why should he pay tax and insurance on his car?

After all, he probably pays at least £3.72 in UK income tax every year.

If it had been a more ordinary car it would already have been disposed of but because it is a mazzer it is kept for months?!?!

whereas this one gets crushed ...

Who judges the disposability of the car then?
