Many Russians, certainly in the western half, are descended from Vikings. Even the name "Russia" comes from a Viking word meaning "read headed" (as in "russet"), and I've yet to see a Mongol with red hair.By understanding that Russians are Mongols from Byzantium, the next president will not find Russia a Churchillian mystery wrapped inside an enigma.

Since the tragedy of 9/11 we know that America faces a grave threat. We know about bin Laden and al Qaeda. We know about the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. What is not understood is that we face a much bigger enemy. A more dangerous enemy, unsuspected by most of our leaders and the experts who advise them.Comment

Well, I tend to set their feet on fire, then drop them from a height of several hundred metres. That smarts a bit.Comment
