Verbal acceptance of job offer

Hi all,

Can you get out of a contract once you have verbally said yes to it?

If a person hasn't signed the actualy physical cntract, but said yes over the phone...can you just tell them you've changed your mind?

Anyone?

Choose which is best for you......afterall, that's what an employer/client would do. Also keep it in mind that, if the budget was cut, they would not hesitate in giving you the chop!

Yeah it is naughty to blow them out and you shouldn't do it because you gave your word and it gives contractors bad reputation etc etc etc.

But like others have said, they probably wouldn't hesitate if there was a budget cut or freeze (I've been a victim of this; yes, it was annoying but I got over it).

Secondly, say you do the honorable thing and take it... from day 1 you would be kicking yourself about this much better role and your heart wouldn't be in it and it's not going to be a good time for either parties.

I tend to stick to what I've agreed, since once I've got one sorted, I stop looking.

However, I now tell agents that the first one to get a signed contract, wins the race.

If you can get someone to substitute for you, then you could win on both fronts - I'm available in 11 days!

To be fair everyone could keep chopping and changing chasing money, eventually your rep will catch up with you. If you are due to arrive tomorrow then IMHO it's a bit sh1tty to let them down now.
